RIDGE ROAD
Shinnecock Hills,
Southampton
Fashion touches are woven throughout the decor of the house. Couture-like finishes show up in the fabric ruffles added to the ladder frame of antique chairs-an idea Brandolini borrowed from a set of chairs at Hubert de Givenchy's Manoir du Jonchet outside Paris. The ultimate accessory dominates the cozy breakfast room: a whimsical sculpted wirework and bead chandelier by the French artisan Marie Christophe.
Other made-to-measure accents include entire upstairs bedrooms swathed in Muriel Brandolini textiles for Holland & Sherry, finely pleated fabric lampshades handmade by Lisa Simkin at Blanche Field, and custom embroidered cushions in the mudroom where instead of Wellington boots and Barbour jackets. To accommodate the odd shape of the dining room, Brandolini had a patchwork rug made from sisal samples, and for the primary bedroom upstairs she asked her favorite linen shop, Vis-A-Vis Paris, to add an extravagant fifth layer of ruffles to hand-embroidered sheets.
